Mark & His Team
Associate Professor Mark Bowman
Associate Professor Mark Bowman has more than 20 years experience in helping women and couples achieve their dream of pregnancy. Mark is one of Australia’s leading Fertility Specialists.
He is the Medical Director of Genea, a Visiting Medical Officer at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Sydney.
Mark commenced specialty obstetrics and gynaecology training in 1987 at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, after which he obtained his PhD for research into pelvic adhesions working between the Universities of Sydney and Sheffield (UK). He went on to achieve the specialist Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) in 1993.
In addition to his private practice and his role at Genea, Mark is kept busy with regular teaching of medical and postgraduate students, undertaking research and presenting papers at national and international conferences. He is principal author of many peer-reviewed medical journal publications and his research interests focus on the assessment of assisted conception outcomes, including outcomes from preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).
Mark is a past President of the Fertility Society of Australia and a prior Chairman of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Committee for RANZCOG. He has contributed to the International Advisory Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
Despite all of these activities keeping him busy, you can expect up to date, one-on-one expert care given with empathy and energy.
Mark always tries to keep you updated online through media stories and his blog. You are also welcome to follow him on Twitter where he reports and comments upon recent studies and developments in assisted conception – although those tweets are often interspersed with comment about his other passions – football (soccer) and golf!
Gai is Mark Bowman’s PA and has been with the practice for many years. When you call the practice, Gai will be able to help you with booking your appointment or handling any other queries that you might have.
Gai has extensive experience in managing the wider aspects of medical care that involves procedures and hospital care as well as consultations. As a result you will find her a very good coordinator and connection between Mark and Genea.
Once you have commenced your IVF treatment, day to day issues such as the results of tests, timing of procedures and billing for the IVF cycle itself are handled by the staff at Genea.
